"In my many of years being in the dog world, I have found a lot of none ethical breeders out there. This is just information for you as the buyer to understand and have some knowledge of before buying a dog/puppy from me or from any other dog breeder."

Buyers Beware Information about the Presa Canario Breed when it regards to breeding Programs In my couple of years being in this breed, I have found out that there are not ethical breeders out there. I use to breed American Bulldogs before I got into Presa Canarios, ABs have a lot more problems then Presas but still all dogs have problems. As a AB breeder I tested my dogs for Joint (Hip, Knees, Elbows) Problems, Ears Defense & Eye Blindness. So now I am breeding the Presa Canario I am doing the same types of testing with this breed.

INBREEDING But one concern I have seen happening in the breed is inbreeding. Father to Daughter, Mother to Son or Sister to Brother. A lot of breeders are calling this line breeding as this is not the case. Please ask your Veterinarian or ask around other breeders of the same or different breeds about Inbreeding. I have been seeing and hearing about a lot of Hip problems happening so much that dogs are not being able to walk due to BAD breeding programs.

LINEBREEDING There is nothing wrong with line breeding as long as in the program different DNA is added in to change the structure of the DNA. Line breeding would be Grandfather to Granddaughter, Grandmother to Grandson or Cousin to Cousin. Some folks believe breeding a half brother to a half sister is a good choice of a line breeding, & in some aspects that is line breeding, but to me that is just to close for words. I am only putting this out because so many people are having so many problems with there dogs. One question you need to ask yourself.... Would you want to be with one of your parents or your sibling? Would you want to see someone in your family do the same? Please for your sake ask for Predigrees of both parents make sure to do your research to find out if the parents to those pups are related. Do not put yourself in one of the problems with the breed they are seeing now. Be smart, talk & listen to others bad and good.

DOG BROKERS Often these dog dealers do only have the puppies in their house - and the mother is in another country or right down the street - living as a production animal. Or they go buy puppies from people who are unable to sell there pups and these folks come along and buy them for a small price just to sell you a BAD UNHEALTHY dog. I am not speaking about Dog Brokers that are used to help buyers & sellers from different countries be able to comunicate. They are actual helpers in the breeding programs.

PUPPY MILLS The puppies are often born in horrible circumstances, left in cages, and have cyclogical problems or under mental stress. They without any contact to people or animals, proper food and under veterinarian care. There are people who believe that they can earn big money on selling Dogs, they import cheap puppies from puppy millers around the world to sell them further as quality dogs. It is possible to find very cheap puppies and these puppy millers do not care whom they sell to - they only want your money in their pocket. Of course quality and price often follows. The puppies are not health tested, and you can not trust the pedigrees. The puppies are often taken away from their mother too young, just to be into a cage at the age of 8 weeks - to be sold further Many also have fake vaccinations certificates.

BACKYARD BREEDERS Are people who go out and purchase pet quality dogs from someone who does not make them Spay or Neuter the companion. The folks see the money price they just paid or the show price and think they can make a buck or two. They do not have testing done and may not always have the parents or the pups checked at the veterinarian. They do nothing with the dogs but have them in the backyard in kennels or on chains. The motivation is money!

LAST THOUGHTS From a broker, backyard, or puppy mill you can not complain about your puppy, when the puppy is paid, the door is closed. You will not receive a guaranty for anything, documents on health on parents or not even a sales contract. You can not get advice and support regarding the breed you have decided to get. Often are Brokers, Puppy Mills & Backyard Breeders are very inexperienced about the breed, since they jump from one breed to another. They ALWAYS have the most "modern" dog breed in stock - so they can sell for high prices......
If you are purchasing from one of these types of so called breeders, by buying from such a Bad Breeder, Dog Broker, Puppy Mill or Backyard Breeders, you do not support the breed, but you support the one who is selling unhealthy or bad bred dogs to produce even more dogs of low quality and bad type. It is always difficult to say no to a puppy, when you first have seen it, therefore - GET ALL the information’s, documents and photos you want, before seeing the puppy in person. Before buying your puppy, see and potential parents see documents of health and pedigrees -and watch carefully the environment the puppies are born in.

Ask the kennel club in your country if the breeder is authorized. Remember to have your intentions and motivations about having a dog, cleared with one self before seeing the puppy.

If you have that - you are also able to be selective.

Be critical!

Sincerely,
